Did you know your upcoming 7th grader may need updated immunizations before the start of the school year?

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), along with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), require all 7th graders to have one dose of Meningococcal ACWY (meningitis) vaccine. A booster dose of Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine is also required. The administration of these vaccines can be done at a well child visit if the child has not had one within the past year, or as a nurse visit if your child has already had a well child visit. As a reminder, most health insurance plans cover a well child visit once a year. A sports physical could be completed at this time as well.
