Occupational therapy assists patients in obtaining their maximum level of function in the areas of Activities of Daily Living (eating, dressing, bathing, cooking, etc.), work, and leisure. This can take place after any type of illness or injury. Examples include, but are not limited to, the following: strokes, hip/knee replacements, head injuries, generalized weakness, arthritis and fractures or tendonitis of the elbow, wrist, and hand.

Occupational therapy works in conjunction with physicians and other healthcare providers at CCMH. All services provided by occupational therapy require a physician's order. These services can be provided to In-patients, Out-patients, or though contract to Home Health clients. The goal of occupational therapy is to rehabilitate through therapeutic exercises, or to provide training regarding adaptive techniques or equipment, so that the individual can achieve his or her highest level of functioning in daily life and work activities.
