CCMH lifts visitor restriction policy for children

Crawford County Memorial Hospital has lifted the temporary restrictions placed on the OB visitor policy last fall. Because H1N1 influenza cases in the area have dropped, all children under the age of 14 will once again be permitted to visit newborns and mothers in the OB department.

According to Crawford County Memorial Hospital Infection Control nurse Marcy Larson, RN, the hospital staff will continue monitoring the number of influenza cases area wide.

“If we begin to see an increase in influenza, we may have to place restrictions on our visitation policy again in the future,” said Larson.

As a general precaution, Crawford County Memorial Hospital is asking anyone who is thinking of visiting the hospital to follow these guidelines:

  • People of any age with fever, chills, cough, or sore throat should NOT visit hospitalized patients (this includes the OB department or patients on the second floor Medical/Surgical Department).
  • Visitors who are feeling well should use the hand sanitizer that is available at all entrances and inside all patient rooms when they come and go from the hospital.
