CCMH ANNOUNCES DR. RICHARD BEAN JOINS EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT MEDICAL STAFF
(Denison, IA) – Richard J. Bean, MD will join the emergency department medical staff at Crawford County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) on a full-time basis in January 2018. The hiring was announced by the CCMH Board of Trustees at its monthly meeting on November 20, 2017. Dr. Bean, a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, will join Craig G. Simons, DO, and Josh Storey, DO, on the Emergency Department staff. Earlier this year, Dr. Simons was hired as a full time Emergency Department physician and Emergency Department (ED) Medical Director at CCMH.
“Dr. Bean joining our Emergency department medical staff is evidence of the commitment of the Board of Trustees to provide the best emergency medicine on behalf of all Crawford County residents,” said Bill Bruce, CCMH President and CEO. “We continue to make progress toward staffing the Emergency department with our physicians rather than traveling doctors.”
A graduate of the Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY, Dr. Bean completed his medical school training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He performed his General Surgery internship at the Veterans Administration Medical Center and Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Dr. Bean later completed his Family Practice Residency at St. Louis University/Scott Air Force Base.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Bean has been assigned to various air force bases around the world providing family medicine and urgent care services as well as serving as the Flight Surgeon for the 523rd Fighter Squadron, and Chief of the Medical Staff for the 354th Medical Group at Eielson AFB in Alaska, the 52nd Medical Group at Spangdahlem AFB in Germany, and the 39th Medical Group at Incirlik AFB in Turkey.
“I am looking forward to serving the people of Denison and Crawford County. My goal is to offer the most comprehensive and compassionate emergency services possible,” Dr. Bean said.
