CCMH HONORED AS CLINICAL SITE OF EXCELLENCE BY CREIGHTON UNIVERSITY

08/21/17

(Denison, IA) – At a recent ceremony in Omaha, the Crawford County Memorial Hospital Department of Physical Therapy was honored with a 2017 Clinical Site of Excellence Award. The award, presented by the Creighton University Department of Physical Therapy, recognizes CCMH’s outstanding contributions to the educational development of future physical therapists. The award notes the excellent clinical teaching and practice by the physical therapists at CCMH. The CCMH Physical Therapy department was one of only two facilities, out of 400 clinical sites, to receive the award for 2017.

The CCMH Physical Therapy department was nominated for the award by Creighton University students who perform clinical rotations at the hospital. Students range from their first clinical rotation to the last clinical rotation and assist in treating patients with supervision from CCMH clinical instructors.

The Creighton University students also have the opportunity to experience practice in patient populations for orthopedic, pediatric, geriatric, wound care and neurologic physical therapy. Providing therapy in a variety of settings including acute, skilled, outpatient, aquatic and home health care are explored.

Jamie Gross, DPT, CLT represented the CCMH Physical Therapy department at the awards ceremony and accepted the award on behalf of her CCMH colleagues and herself.

Bill Bruce, CCMH President and CEO, said, “Our physical therapy, speech pathology and occupational therapy team do an outstanding job and truly demonstrate the pride we take in serving all of the patients and students who come to our hospital.”
