Hospital Foundation raises nearly $25,000 at Charity Golf Outing

The Hospital Foundation of Crawford County raised nearly $25,000 during its first-ever Charity Golf Outing on June 22, 2010. A total of 116 golfers endured the blazing heat to enjoy a fun-filled day at Majestic Hills Golf Course followed by a steak supper at the Boulders Conference Center in Denison.

All proceeds raised from the event will benefit a new hospital staff recruitment and retention program. This new program will give the Foundation additional tools to assist Crawford County Memorial Hospital in its efforts to retain quality staff and recruit new health care workers to fill shortage specialty areas.
“For being a first year event, we were absolutely thrilled with the outcome,” said Becky Vonnahme, Director of Public Relations and Development, Crawford County Memorial Hospital. “Our success was due to the generosity of many, many donors from Crawford County and throughout the Midwest.”
Major sponsors of the event were Consumers Credit Union in Denison and Graham Construction Company from Des Moines. Additionally, The Hoffman Agency provided a tournament t-shirt sponsorship while Norelius & Nelson Law Firm and Crawford County Abstract Co. sponsored a $25,000 hole-in-one contest.
“Although no one unfortunately walked away with the $25,000 prize, we were able to provide all participants with goodies bags and several flag, flight and door prizes thanks to our many donors,” said Vonnahme.
The overall winner of the tournament was the team from PCS in Denison. The foursome of Eric Schroeder, Paul Reicks, Todd Lauderbaugh, Kyle Halpin shot a 62 to take the top prize.
The Foundation is already planning to make the tournament an annual event. The second-annual Charity Golf Outing will be held next June 2011.
