Physical Therapy

The Rehab Services department works in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers at CCMH to assist patients in their rehabilitation and return to optimum living within their capacities. All services provided by the Rehab Services staff require a physician’s order or referral.

The Rehab Services department provides both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation services in the following areas:

  • Orthopedics (Examples include fractures, reconstructive surgery, joint replacements, sports injuries, neck and back pain, arthritis, other orthopedic conditions)
  • Acute Care (Examples include neurological conditions, vascular conditions, general deconditioning, decreased ability to safely ambulate, other)
  • Neurological (Examples include CVA, TBI, spinal cord, neuropathies, other)
  • Wound Care

The staff provides a wide range of treatment modalities. These treatments include the use of:

  • Heat (Hot pack, ultrasound, whirlpool, paraffin bath, fluidotherapy, other)
  • Cryotherapy (Ice massage, cold pack, and contrast bath, other)
  • Electrical Stimulation (Neuromuscular electrical stimulation, TENS, Iontophoresis, biofeedback, Interferential current, other types of currents)
  • Exercises (Strengthening, stretching, general conditioning, balance, coordination, proprioceptive, home exercise program, other)
  • Manual Therapy (Soft tissue mobilization, PROM, muscle energy techniques, strain-counterstrain, other)
  • Traction (Pelvic, cervical, manual)
  • Gait (Analysis and Training)
  • Device Fitting (Gait devices, compression garments, orthotics, braces and supports, special requests as needed, wound vacuum application)
  • Patient Education
