Q. Do you have payment plans available?
A. Yes by making arrangements with the Credit Department at 712-263-1680
Q. What’s the minimum payment I can make?
A. This is based on the amount of your outstanding balance. A copy of the Credit Policy can be obtained by contacting the Credit Department, 712-263-1680.
Q. Do have any kind of financial assistance available?
A. We have two different kinds of financial assistance available. One is to request reduced monthly payment amounts which are below those required in the Credit Policy. The other may qualify the applicant for a full reduction of their charges based on their income. Please contact the Credit Department, 712-263-1680.
Q. Do I get a discount if I pay for everything up front?
A. No
Q. I have Medicare and supplemental insurance, why do I still owe a balance?
A. On an outpatient visit Medicare does not pay for any oral or self-administered medications or any take home prescriptions given through the emergency room. Those are due from the patient and can be billed by them to their Part D prescription plan. We do not bill for Part D.
Q. What happens if I can’t afford to make the required payment?
A. You need to contact the Credit Department and make arrangements for a lesser payment amount and/or fill out a Financial Assistance application.
Q. Do you accept Medicare Part D insurance?
A. No because we are not a retail pharmacy.
Q. I stayed in the Hospital overnight, why won’t Medicare pay for my medication?
A. If you stay overnight as an observation or same day surgery patient you are considered an outpatient and Medicare does not pay for your medications on an outpatient basis and these are due from you.
Q. Why does the hospital have to take copies of my insurance cards every time I am a patient?
A. Many change insurance plans frequently and this is our way of keeping current with the proper insurance for billing and to get the claim paid in a timely manner.
Q. I have insurance, why didn’t you bill my insurance?
A. There are many reasons why insurance may have not been billed:
- No copies of cards were obtained at the time of service so we were not aware of insurance coverage.
- We did bill the insurance but they requested additional information from the patient which was never provided and we therefore denied the claim and made the balance due from the patient.
- There is something on the claim that needs special permission from the patient/parent before we can bill to the insurance and that release was never returned to our Health Information Department, thus the bill is due from the patient.
- The patient qualified after the services were rendered for medical coverage but the patient never furnished us with the information so that we could bill the charges to the insurance for reimbursement.
