Building a Better Hospital
Project Overview
The new Crawford County Memorial Hospital includes a 78,000 square foot replacement hospital and 16,000 square foot adjoined provider-based rural health clinic. The new hospital opened in June 2011.
The new hospital features:
- 25 private patient rooms with their own private bath
- Four labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum suites
- A dedicated ER entrance
- An expanded specialty clinic – meaning more space to accommodate patients and possibly additional physicians
- Same day surgery area
- The entire layout of building on one level
- Double the parking space
- More physician's clinic space
- Enhanced privacy and security features
- An enclosed ambulance bay protecting patients from the weather
- Addition of our own MRI system
- State-of-the-art surgical suite that will double our operating space and allow for additional equipment and possible procedures
- Several waiting areas spread throughout facility for additional visitor comfort
- Natural light cascading through most public portions of the building

The new Crawford County Memorial Hospital has been constructed to allow enhanced privacy for patients and visitors, more space and better infrastructure to better accommodate technological changes, and better patient flow to reflect an outpatient model of care.
